It is a real shame that most of theses green products are so expensive. $15 for a bottle? Multiply that by the number of family members! Maybe you should feature items that have a sustainable price tag. I just bought (at a super-store) all 4 of us reusable aluminum water bottles (exactly the same specs as the bottle shown here but 20 oz.) for LESS than the cost of ONE Klean Kanteen. I think it is irresponsible for these companies to price-gouge under the auspices of "being green."
I bring my reusable water bottle everywhere so I never have to use a disposable cup. But the aluminum ones like the picture above are too small for me. And I've started keeping spare reusable shopping bags in my car in case I make an un-planned trip to the market so I don't have to use their plastic bags.
The number 1 product on my green must-have list is Pink Solution. It cleans everything, even things the chemical filled cleaners can't clean like permanent marker and nail polish.
I love my reuseable waterbottles, but I still find it impossible to move completely away from the use of bottled water... I do want to try to stay as green as possible, though, so found a great little product called WaterBuds. They attach to the neck of our bottles, so we can easily see which one belongs to me, my husband, the kids, etc. No more needless wasting of drinks or trashing of bottles b/c we got confused about whose bottle was whose. And not wasting means saving money and I can use as much of that as possible right now! :) Hope this helps...
The Klean Kanteen shown in this review isn't plastic. It's stainless steel which means it is 100% recyclable -- I have one of these at home. It will probably last me over 25 years and still look new. So I don't know why the other commentor on this article said it was plastic -- she is wrong about that, but right that we should avoid plastic which is why I think Family.com wanted to point parents in the direction of a non-plastic option. There are also aluminum bottles out there -- I think SIGG has aluminum. Aluminum is all 100% recyclable and can be recycled forever, over and over (you can't say that about plastic).
I'm sorry but this is just another plastic container that I don't need. We carry a half gallon thermos with us along with reusable cups if we need anything to drink...I'm a mother of four...I always travel prepared! LOL!
