7. Make Links of Love
Kids love to count down until Christmas and you add a charitable element to this daily ritual by creating a simple looped paper chain. On each link of the chain, write the name of a family member. You can also include neighbors, friends or extended family. Every morning, let one person remove a link and devote a good deed or gesture to the person named on the link. Let the kids choose the good deeds. Examples are helping with the laundry, setting the table, making a sibling's bed, no teasing, picking up toys for another and carrying their backpack.
