"Vinny the Vampire Costume"

Most Unique Halloween Costumes

This is a vampire outfit made from clothes taken from my son's closet as well as some items we constructed. This was a pretty simple costume to make and comfortable for my son to wear (which is always a big plus!).

Black track pants
White shirt (preferably Edwardian)
Red satin ribbon
Red eyeliner
Pomade for hair

Costume Instructions
1. For the life of me, I could not find a vampire cape pattern so I took a basic cape pattern and cut out my own pointed edges around the base. For the material, I used a lightweight foam to make it a little more substantial.
2. For pants, we took the easy way and used a pair of Vinny's track pants.
3. Vinny had an Edwardian shirt from a school play he was in so we used it to add a touch of that old-world dressing to his outfit. Because the shirt was a little large, we put one of his T-shirts under it for warmth.
4. I took left-over pieces from his cape to make a matching vest. I then tacked the vest to the shirt.
5. We took one of his track metals (hanging from the red ribbon) and covered the metal part (which you can't see) with construction paper. We designed a coat of arms on the construction paper to denote his “Count Vinny" status.
6. We bought some red eyeliner from a Halloween shop and rimmed his eyes with that.
7. As the final touch, we used pomade to shape his hair into the vampire V-shape.
