This past April we took a trip to Japan with the Family. My son became a Samurai Warrior Fanatic. With so many Ninja Warrior's running around during Halloween, We thought it would be a change to have a Samurai Warrior Costume. We didn't want a store bought one. He wanted to look original and authentic.

Costume Instructions

Prep Time: Approx. 5 Hours

Costume Materials
Helmut and Chest Guard purchased at dollar store.
3/4 -1 yd. of fabric for leg guards.
1/2-3/4 yd. of fabric for apron and arm guards.
1/4 yd. of fabric for helmut.
Poster board 24" x 36"
gold and black acrylic paint
plastic gold buttons for decoration
decorative fabric trim for helmut
hot glue gun and white fabric glue.



Costume Instructions
The Samurai Helmut: The helmut & chest guard were purchased at the dollar store. The helmut was trimmed with black lace trim as stripes which were painted over w/ black paint. The front visor, back visor and antlers were made from black cardboard. Fabric was applied to the front & back of the visors. Decorative fabric trim and gold buttons were applied to the visors, helmut and chest guard. This was then all hot glued in place. The antler on the helmut was painted gold and gold zigzag trim and gold buttons were applied to the sides. The Chest guard was painted black. Gold buttons were added. The Leg guards were made from 1 yd. of fabric that had Japanese writing on it, on sale for $5 a yd. The apron and the arm guards were made from another fabric. The Leg guards and apron were 2 rectangle panels of fabric. These were all pleated onto a belt made from the same fabric as the leg guards. The arm guards were made w/ 2 rectangle panels. Yardage for this fabric was 3/4 yd. @ $5. yd.
