Costume Instructions
My son wanted to be Prince Alii, but there were no costumes, so we made one, probably less than $10, for all the white materials we got at the local fabric store and dollar store. Grandma sewed the sleves on a white PJ top, and made a cape from two pieces of material (grandma already had a blue piece)trimmed with gold ribbon and held in place by two pieces of velcro on the shoulders, and they run down to the pants where the ends are attached with velcro in side the pants; the same ribbon was used for the cumberbund sewed together with a snap to hold it in place that covers the ends of the ribbons from the cape. The pants were old pajama bottoms. The boots were made by taping cardboard cones on the toes of his rain boots, covering them with socks, and coloring them with highlighter. The turban was made by draping a white cloth over a baseball cap turned backwards, grandma sewed a patch on another ribbon that held the dust flap around the hat; taped a couple peacock feathers to the back of the center patch, and used a 5 ft. piece of stretchy scrap material wound twice, and looped through a hair tie, to put over the baseball cap to complete the turban.
