Costume Instructions

Prep Time: Grandmother spent 50 hrs.

Costume Materials
Grandmother spent approx 50 hrs making the LOLA dress. She used about 1/2 yd of the polka dot fabric, cotton, about 1 1/4 yds of the striped, cotton, and 1 1/2 yds of the black satin. The black satin is doubled for a lining and body.

The Polka dots are all covered with sequins which were glued by hand, as are all the stripes. When Gramie cut the dress, she specifically made the stripes vertical at the R bustline, then horizontal. The pink spangle sequins cover that seam.

This is a girls size 14/16 and I think Gramie took a dress pattern and pieced it.

It zips down the back. The wig is the only store bought part of the costume.

Costume Instructions
Take a dress pattern. Buy polka dot fabric, striped fabric, and black satin. Cut the the dress shoulders out of the polka dot. Cut the dress body out of the stripe, matching the stripe at side seams, and cutting the R bust and back to go vertical. Sew together. Cut the bottom out of the black satin, measuring how long you want the dress. By doubling the fabric, you get a finished bottom.

Glue sequins to the polka dots. Glue sequings to the stripes. Buy the spangle setquins and sew to cover the seam.

Buy black sequin trim and sew to cover the seam of the black satin to the white body.

Measure childs are at elbow, and wrist, and the length. Cut stretchy fabric for 'gloves' sew sequins on and sew up bottom seam. sew on thumb loop to keep them in place.
