Costume Instructions

Prep Time: Few Days

Costume Materials
Yellow soccer shirt, purple soccer shorts, green long underwear set, child's foam Roman helmet, light-weight plungers, purple spray paint, Aleene's tacky glue, girls plastic wide width head band, elastic string, purple satin eye mask & super glue. You'll also need a ball (soft inflatable like you get at the supermarket), marker, scissors and some sort of rack like a drying rack.

Costume Instructions
I ordered the soccer shirt & shorts from a soccer supply store online in my son's size. I also ordered the mask online from a Halloween superstore. I got the child's foam Roman helmet from the same Halloween online merchant. When the helmet arrived, I cut off the moveable eye shield on the font of the helmet. I then spray painted the entire thing purple with paint I found at Lowes to match the soccer shorts. Spray 2 to 3 coats allowing for drying time. I took the wide plastic girls head band and placed it on my son's head. I marked near his ears on the head band with a marker. I discarded the sticks that came with the plungers. I then super glued the pulngers to the headband at the marks. Glue only the top portion so the pulngers will fit parallel to the ground. If you glue the entire surface, they will angel downward. Glue one at a time and hold in place long enough to allow them to set. Put the head band on the ball and balance the ball on the rack until the plungers are set (few hours or overnight). Place the helmet on the ball over the head band. Take the marker and mark where the helmet might need to be cut to allow for the plungers to fit. I had to cut a 1/4 inch semi-circle so the helmet would fit around the plungers and look like one piece. I think this would vary depending on your helmet and plungers. My helmet had metal brads where I had cut off the eye shield. I took and elastic string, wound it behind the brad, around the plunger on the head band and tied a knot. I then slid craft glue between the head band and the helmet. Repeat on the other side. Allow for drying time on the ball. My son did not like the elactic on the mask going around his head, so I cut the string and tied each side around the plungers.
