Costume Instructions

Prep Time: One week

Costume Materials
For Jack: 3 yards of black fabric, white puff paint, a pair of black pants, a white turtle neck, a pair of skeleton gloves, a latex bald cap, black chiffon, black and white acrylic paint, plastic fake teeth, a bottle of flesh latex and foam latex, black cream make-up, 2ft of poster board, 18 inches of white elastic, wire, and a Santa hat
For Zero: 4ft of thick gauge wire, thin gauge wire, 5 ft of chicken wire, and 2yrds of white chiffon, spray on starch, 1/4 yard of black chiffon, black maker, a bendable flashlight, lt. blue spray paint, a small plastic pumpkin, and a dog collar.

Costume Instructions
For the costume, I added fabric to the pants to raise the waist up to my chest, turning them into more of a jumpsuit. Since I was not able to find the right jacket, one was made from a tailcoat pattern that was adapted to a shorter waist and a wider lapel. After it was done I painted the pinstripes by hand one by one (ugh).
The mask was sculpted and cast in foam latex, then a bald cap was added to the back with flesh latex to cover my whole head. The black chiffon was added to screen out the eyes and the teeth are then added into the mouth. The whole thing then was painted and detailed with acrylic paint mixed with latex. When the mask is on, the turtleneck is pulled up into it and I put black make-up around my eyes and mouth to black them out. (For added effect I wear it with a Santa hat.)
The bat tie was drawn and cut out of the poster board, wired for support, and covered with black material, with the stripes painted on again with puff paint. The bat head was also sculpted and cast in foam latex, painted and detailed, then attached to the covered poster board, along with the white elastic to go around my neck.
For the Zero "puppet" the chicken wire was cut and formed for the head attaching the flashlight into the nose with the on/off switch accessible. The heavy gauge wire is used for the leash, running it thru the head with the excess used for the body and tail. The body and ears are cut from the white chiffon and sprayed with starch. After they have dried, the edges are wired for stability and attached to the head and body form. The head then gets covered in the white chiffon and also starch. The eyes are cut from the black chiffon and glued on to the head. The mouth is drawn on and the whole puppet is lightly shadowed with the light blue spray paint. Last but not least the pumpkin is attached to the nose and his collar is put on.
