Most Unique Halloween Costumes
When my son decided he wanted to “transform” this Halloween into one of those popular robots who change into cars, I knew it would be a busy October. But the more I thought about it the easier it seemed. In fact so easy that after completing his costume I also made one for myself.

one pair hockey gloves
one pair old roller blades
two pair shin guards
2 empty kethcup containers
2 5 gallon buckets

Costume Instructions
Next I rounded up some old truck and ride-on toys that were broken or no longer used. They were already in the garage over in the GARAGE SALE LEFTOVERS pile.
After surveying the bits and pieces I began thinking about ways they might connect.
I started with the chest. Looking at two large laundry detergent bottles I determines that if connected these side by they looked just like the front windows on a semi truck. I got out a Dremel tool and just started cutting some holes for my head and arms. Then I connected to carry out trays to what was now the shoulder. Next I cut two lengths of landscaping tubes for my upper arm. I used two gallon size ketchup bottles for my forearms. I found some tubelike containers for the exhaust pipes. Then I just continued on through the pile looking for any parts that might fit someplace on my body.
Because I wanted to convey the idea of great mass I started thinking about ways to make myself larger. The bulky plastic containers were helping but I need more height. I have seen drywall installers who use 5 gallon plastic buckets to reach the ceiling. Grabbing two left over paint buckets I started making my own. Soon I realized there were a few more things I needed to pull it all together so went to the thrift store. There I found the hockey gloves, shin guards, a pair of roller blades, and a couple more plastic toys that had interesting shapes and pieces.
After removing the wheels, the roller blades fit well on the top of the buckets.
I cut the two ride-on toys in half and attached one set to the buckets and the other to my thighs. Finally using the miscellaneous bits and pieces I glued and/or screwed them where ever something looked to much like what it actually was. Several coats of flat black paint, silver highlights and blue and red details and I was done. Next weeks lesson...learning to walk on buckets!
