Most Unique Halloween Costumes

When my son decided he wanted to “transform” this Halloween into one of those popular robots who change into cars, I knew it would be a busy October. But the more I thought about it the easier it seemed. In fact so easy that after completing his costume I even made one for myself.

Costume Instructions
The first mandate was DO NOT THROW OUT ANY PLASTIC CONTAINERS. I started a big pile in the garage for anything made of plastic that might be heading for the trash. I wasn’t exactly sure what I needed but I would worry about that later.
After surveying the bits and pieces I began thinking about ways they might connect.I found a ready made soup bowl that when cut in half fit perfectly on the toe of the boots. Then I spotted some plastic shoe inserts that looked great as knee pieces.
I found an old bike helmet that once decorated with portions of a dish washer detergent bottle looked very robotic.
While at the thrift store looking for trucks and cars to borrow pieces from I found a broken 1/6th scale race car. I imagined that if my son scrunched into a ball that he and that car were around the same size. This made the rest super easy. Using a rotory cutting tool, I simply cut the car up into two sets of equal pieces that I would velcro onto his jumpsuit. Wheels and doors on the back, fenders on the legs, roof on the arms, hood on the chest and so-on. The last touches were cutting black craft foam into mechanical shapes and then gluing those onto the jumpsuit. A little paint and he was ready for action.
