Costume Instructions

Prep Time: 1 week ( hand sewn )

Costume Materials
2 yellow T-shirts ( at least 1 long sleeved )
1 maroon T-shirt
1 maroon pair of long pants
1 small peice of red or maroon vinyl
1 small peice of sheer white or cream fabric
1 package of battery operated mini lights.
6 peices of felt ( 2 each of yellow, orange, bright orange )
some padding material, thread.
1 green and 1 black marker
1 sour cream lid
1 pair of 'flip flops'

Costume Instructions
Hood / Mask:

1) Cut long sleeve off of large shirt. Place over head to judge suitable fit then sew together at that point. This makes a very simple hood.

2) Cut out vinyl to make face and chin.

3) Place small swatch of transparent sheer fabric across eyes and glue to back of vinyl face.

4) Cut eyeholes in the hood then stitch mask to the hood above the eyeholes. In our costume we only stitched the very top, so he can lift the 'visor' for better vision if/when needed.

5) Cut flames out of felt, stitch together and pad. Make 1 large flame to cover top of head like a crown and sew base to hood. Cut small holes in hood to slip in mini lights. The wires and battery pack are hidden at the very end of the sleeve hanging over the back of the head.

Gloves :

1) Use fabric from the long sleeve shirt to make the '3 finger' gloves.

2) Make flames from felt and sew to back of gloves. I planned to add lights here too but ran out of time.

Boots:

1) Take 2nd yellow shirt (short sleeve is probably best) and cut from waist up to the collar on both sides. This leaves you with 2 'L' shapped peices with the sleeves being the bottom of the L and the waist to shoulder seam being the rest. Stitch the opennings together for 2 quick 'boots'.

2) Place 'flip flops' at the bottom of boots to protect feet.

Body :

1) use remaining scraps to create yellow bands and sew in place.

2) draw pattern on inside of sour cream lid with markers and sew to chest.
