Most Unique Halloween Costumes
This is my son dressed as a gargoyle statue. He is actually standing inside the column but it looks like he is sitting on it. There are handles inside so he could pick it up and walk with it.

Costume Instructions
we used about 3 sheets of house siding (cut in half) and just attached them together and formed a circle. the column should reach the childs chest. cut shorter if needed. use cardboard to make top and bottom of column (kind of like a pizza box shape). trace the top and bottom circle of column on cardboard, cut out so the column actually sits into it. we used caulking to "glue" the siding to cardboard. spray paint the entire thing gray with some black. when dry attach rope handles on inside so it can be picked and walked with.
sweatsuit:
spray paint black and gray to match column.
foam hands and feet:
trace around hands and feet (but bigger), instead of fingers just make it pointy like claws. we used thick foam so we could just cut a slit in the hands and used like a glove. spray hands and feet gray and black also.
fake legs:
take 4 pieces of wood to make the fake legs on top of column. make them look like they are bent. slip sweatpaints over the "legs" and attach to the column on top (we had such thick cardboard we were able to nail it). glue or hammer the feet at the bottom of each leg.
finish:
have child put sweatshirt, mask, and wings on. slide the column over head (we just picked him up and put him inside. slip claws on and your done! It really looks like he is sitting on top!
shortcuts: Instead of a mask you could use face paint. You could also make wings out of cardboard. The legs could be cardboard also. Instead of house siding cardboard would work too. The house siding made it look so realistic and was easy to work with and paint.
