This costume is fashioned after the Bumblebee Transformer. It has working headlights and blinking red LED's in the chest shield. It is primarily constructed of 1/16th" white styrene plastic. When the child is standing he has the appearance of being a Transformer robot. When he bends over and lets his arms hang he takes on the appearance of being a car.

Costume Instructions

Prep Time: Aprox, 40 hours

Costume Materials
Aprox 3 square feet of 1/16th white styrene. 1 yard of yellow felt. 3 yards of nylon webbing. 18 3/16ths pop rivets. 2 fuses. 5 plastic knobs. 1 foot of velcro strips. 8 velcro dots. 24 hot glue sticks. 1 can of black, 1 can of yellow and 1 can of silver spray paint. 3 led blinkng led modules. 2 green led lights. 2 battery packs. 4 AA batteries. 8 rubber bumpons. 1 broken air gauge. 1 black belt. 1 black sharpie magic marker. 1 black sweatshirt. 1 black sweatpants. 4 foam disks. 4 ninja stars. 2 square feet of vivac plastic. 2 red reflectors. 1 roll of black electrical tape. 1 happy boy.

Costume Instructions
Bend, shape and hand form styrene to the top shape of the car and hot glue bracing inside to retain shape. Cut sides to match profile of top and hot glue in place. Cut front and rear of car to fit and glue into place. Cut out headlights and glue in vivac lenzes. Glue 2 red reflectors on rear of car. Cut grill from styrene and paint silver. Color black parts in with magic marker. Paint car, apply racing stripes of electrical tape. Apply bumpers cut from styrene and grill. Cut windows from vivac to fit openings. Paint the inside of windows and glue into place with hot glue. Cut windshield and rear windows from vivac and paint the inside. Glue into place using hot glue. Cut and rivet back brace on underside of car and rivet belt to same. Rivet webbing straps in a backpack fashion from back brace to rear bumper of car. On a seperate piece of styrene that is cut to fit inside the front of car drill holes for leds in approiate locations to line up with headlight lenses. Hot glue led's into place. Solder wires to leads and to the battery pack. Glue into place in nose of car and then glue battery pack to underside of car. Measure and cut 2 long strips of styrene of approiate size to fit the childs thighs and rivet into circles. Do the same with a slightly smaller pieces to fit the calves. Paint black and join the two pieces together using yellow felt. Follow the same procedures to create the arms but make cutouts for the underarm area. Legs attach to the sweatpants using velcro dots hot glued in place. Arms are held in place using nylon webbing straps that fasten to the backpack straps on the car. Wheels are made from painted foam disks with silver painted styrene disks glued on and ninja stars glued over the disks making hubcaps. These are glued to the lower arm and leg pieces. Cut from styrene and paint silver a chest shield. Rivet 2 nylon straps that fasten to the backpack straps with velcro dots. Place 8 bumpons on upper half of shield. Glue fuses, gauge parts and knobs using hot glue. Cut 2 triangular pieces of styrene and paint black and silver. Glue into place with hot glue. Drill corners for blinking led lights and glue them into place. Glue battery pack on back of shield and wire approiately. Fasten yellow felt to each side of shield that fasten to the backpack straps using velcro dots. Mask is cut from white styrene and painted silver. Eyebrows are styrene cut to shape and painted black then hot glued on. The nose is made from styrene cut, bent and shaped then side pieces glued on to retain shape. Glue the entire nose piece into place. With a dremel tool the inside of the nose cavity out to make room for the childs nose. Cut the bottom of the nose out for breathing. Cut eye holes out and sand smooth. The details on the mask are drawn on with a sharpie magic marker. Hot glued to the mask is a piece of styrene to make a strap to hold the mask on. Add yellow felt to the inside forhead area for comfort.
