"The Sunflower Costume"

Costume Instructions

Costume Materials
sunflower: 2-3 yards of various color felt, small plastic laundry basket, 1 yard of foam, hot glue, green top, 1 pkg elastic, a belt, misc trim

seed packet: 2 foam poster boards, markers, 2 yds plain material, string, hot glue

watering can: 2 large pieces of cardboard, spray paint, zip strips and iridescent beads

Costume Instructions
Sunflower: cut bottom from basket; glue loops of elastic approximately half way up all around the inside of the basket (for stringing belt through for wearer); cover with felt & hot glue; cover strip of foam with matching felt, glue over brim of basket; cut foam oval for face to poke through; cover with felt; layer varying size felt petals of varying color starting around the outside with larger toward the inside with smaller; trim out with misc trim around face; if necessary, add elastic to back of mask to keep it on head.

Sunflower packet: Cover two foam poster boards with plain fabric, wrap, and glue behind; using any sample of sunflower seed packets, sketch similar flower, and add details (be creative!), be sure to decorate a front and back of seed packet attach at shoulders with string

Watering can: gather two large sheets of cardboard (may need to order or gather from industrial plant), trace and cut out shapes; spray paint; punch aligned holes; zip strip together; punch holes at end of spout; zip strip strings of iridescent beads to represent water
