Costume Instructions

For Cards:
1. Cut four pieces of white felt into rectangles large enough to cover body.
2. Choose what letter or number card you want to make. Once a card is chosen free hand the letter and shape of card onto felt and cut out. (In this case A for aces, hearts and clubs)
3. Tacky glue these onto the two front pieces of felt.
4. At the top of each piece of white felt place a dowel and fold the felt over it and glue.
5.Cut four pieces of red felt, which will be used as the shoulder straps. Two for each costume. Glue from front piece to back piece.

For Queen of Hearts:
1. A pattern was used to create the dress so whatever size you make it calls for different amounts of fabric. The black, white, red and yellow fabric was purchased at a fabric store. The pattern calls for a large heart to be sown onto the front chest of dress. In this case we just ignored it because the queen in the movie doesnt have it on her dress.
2. The elastic was used on the sleeves but is not necessary if you want to make regular long sleeves.
3. The trim was used to make the yellow and black stripes more defined.
4. The collar is detachable; at the bottom of the collar and top of the dress, just above the zipper there are snap on buttons. Thick interfacing was used on collar to make it stand up right.
5. In order to make the dress fuller I am wearing a hoop under it but it is not necessary.
6. To finish off the costume a store bought adjustable crown was purchased. Since the crowns smallest size was still too big it was cut and glued to the perfect size. The Queen of Hearts costume isnt complete without her flamingo to play cricket with. The stuffed flamingo was also purchased at a store. Ribbon was added to flamingo to drape it over shoulder like a bag.
