Family Group Costumes

This is a perfect costume that represents Woody and Jessie from Toy Story, better than any we could find in the stores or costumes shops. My child was so pleased and wore this outfit so often.

Costume Instructions

Prep Time: Woody 72 hours aprox. Jess 2hr

Costume Materials
WOODY: For the shirt we used a yellow turtleneck and red puffpaints to create the square print on the shirt. (aprox. 2 large bottles) The holster was made of cardboard and paper mache. The vest was cow print material (about 1-2 yards) and the pull string (not shown) was made from cardboard base and a WHITE large plastic hoop bracelet (or jelly-type felxible ones work too). Regular Jeans were used for pants. A red standard hankerchief for around the neck. Brown cowboy hat (we found a black foam one and spray painted it brown) Two Large White Buttons to stitch onto front of shirt. and a Large PLastic Sheriff star (spray painted gold)
Jessie: Left over cow print material, White Sweatshirt, About 1/2 yard of plain yellow material, red cording (glittery) and Red cowgirl hat ( I used a lace one) and glue gun and stapeler.

Costume Instructions
WOODY:The Vest: Using a standard vest pattern, follow instructions. Finish the edges with thick yarn sticthing for best effect. The shirt: using the puffy paint for shirt designs, stick cardboard inside of shirt to prevent bleeding of paint. make several verticles lines on one side of shirt about 1" apart. Let dry 8-10 hrs. Then continue to make verticle lines also 1" apart. let dry overnight. Follow pattern with paint on backside after frontside is completly dry. Gun Holster: roll a piece of flimsy cardboard or poster board into a cone shape. use tape to hold shape. use paper mache (paste and flour) and shredded newspaper strips to sturdy the cardboard holster. complete several layers to give a thick leather appearance. after completely dry- paint brown or black. Use a standard belt to hold hoster with costume. Pullstring: Take a piece of sturdy thick cardboard (about the size of a DVD case) and glue one end of the piece of rope (about 16" long) to the center with a glue gun. glue the other end of rope to the plastic hoop bracelet. Attach the cardboard fixture to the inside of the back of the vest by staples or by sticthing the corners with thick thread. make a small slit in the back of vest to pull the pullstring through. Place buttons on frontside of shirt about 3-4" apart. Use standard stiching to attch or glue gun. Pin Sheriffs Star Badge to front of vest.

JESSIE: Measure the yellow material to cover from shoulder to shoulder on the white sweatshirt (frontside only). Cut material to measurements, and leave a point in the center of the bottom for shirt design. Lightly stich on to swetashirt or use glue gun for quickest results. Use the red cording to create a western type theme on the yellow area of the shirt with loops and zig-zags. I used a hot glue gun to attach the cording. With the left over cow print material- cut into 2 strips of about the width of your pant legs. Attach with staples to the frontside of your jeans. I opted to not hem the chaps or anything. just staples cut material to my jeans. it was great, the hung and swayed like real chaps. Costume complete
