Costume Instructions

Prep Time: 5-6 hrs

Costume Materials
For Mom's necklace --dollar store "practice" golf balls strung onto yarn. Mom dress -- fleece material, 1yrd. Dads suit -- fleece with felt spots and cotton tie, 1 1/2 yds, 4 pcs felt, fabric glue, 1/2 yd cotton for tie - 1/2 yd interfacing, velcro. Baby girl outfit-- 1/2 yd fleece (printed), bone --1 sheet white felt, pillow stuffing, barrette, floral wire or stiff plastic strip. Used each persons clothing as a pattern with an additional allowance of approximately 2-4 inches to each side.

Costume Instructions
Baby girl -- use a short, wide tailed shirt to cut pattern with 2 inch allowance on each side. cut with shoulders on fold to minimize cutting/sewing. cut arm holes/neck holes to fit. fold in 1/2 and check for symmetry. stitch sides. Hem bottom & leave hole to thread floral wire or flat plastic strip into hem to have tail of shirt stand out. Bloomers were dyed bloomers from another outfit. Cut bone from felt -- freehand or use a pattern. sew and stuff to desired fullness. attach small tab of felt to back and insert barrette.
Mom -- use dress or shirt as pattern leaving allowance on each side. Mark neckline to remove one sleeve/shoulder area. Stitch sides. cut hem into 'triangle' jagged pattern --freehand. Use practice golf balls or ping pong balls to lace onto white yarn, knotting after each one. leave a 3 inch tie on each end.
Dad -- cut pattern using shirt and extend hemline. fold in 1/2 to check neck holes/arm holes for symmetry. cut out felt triangles and glue to pattern pieces (use self stick felt or fabric glue), stitch sides, cut arm holes & neck holes jagged, cut hem to length in jagged pattern. sew a tube of cotton for tie, attach velcro to ends after sizing to neck, cut pattern from poster board and cut 2 sided tie from cotton material and interfacing. iron interfacing to tie, sew right sides together and turn. attach to neck piece and sew square onto front to cover area where tie and neckpiece join.
