Feathered Toddler Chicken Costume
Costume Instructions
Prep Time: 4 hours per costume
Costume Materials
1 short sleeve shirt 2 sizes bigger than your child
1 pr yellow tights per costume
1/4 yd felt
(5) 6 foot feather boas (colored ones bleed when they get wet, so use white)
1 pr extra large heavy duty dishwashing gloves
1 pr childs shoes
1 white pilots hat
scissors
sewing needles
thread
fiber fill
hot glue gun and glue sticks
Costume Instructions
2. Fill the space between the shirt and onesie with just enough fiber fill to make the body round and stitch the neck shut.
3. Loosely wrap 4 of the boas around the body starting just under the neck and going around tacking it in place with small stitches by hand.
4. Cut the 5th boa into one 3 ft piece and two 1 1/2 ft pieces.
5. Tack the smaller ones were tacked to the tops of the arms with small stitches, and tack the bigger to the hat, make sure to leave room in the middle for the comb.
6. Cut out a chicken comb from red felt and stitch the top of it with the sewing machine. Trim and turn inside out and fill with fiber fill. Stitch the bottom closed by hand and hot glue to the top of the hat.
7. Feet- lay out two pairs of heavy duty dishwashing gloves and make sure your childs shoes will fit inside with about 1 inch of glove left over. (An XL glove will fit up to a size 9 toddler shoe)
8. Cut the top of the glove to about 2 inches from the base of the middle finger.
9. Stuff the fingers with fiber fill and insert the shoes into each one. Stuff around the shoes so the toes are sticking straight out.
10. Hot glue the back portions to each other and trim.
Put the tights and feet on, then the body and the hat and you're all finished. :) Get ready for a Happy Halloween!
