Family Group Costumes

Every year my cousin and I dress up our kids in a theme and go trick-or-treating together. This year we picked The Little Rascals and were very pleased with how it turned out. At the top of the picture you have Tyrus as Stimey, left you have Mikaela as Darla, right you have Kristofer as Alfalfa and bottom you have Malia as Spankey. Could they be any cuter? We went with the black and white for more effect! Enjoy!

Costume Instructions

Prep Time: Shopping/sewing - 3 hours

Costume Materials
Stimey - black pants, flannel shirt, long, oversized, unfinshed vest and a plastic derby-style hat.
Alfalfa - oversized white shirt, black pants a couple sizes too small, black socks, dress shoes, suspenders, some freckles on the face, part hair down the middle and goop with gel. For the cowlick, I used some Elmers glue to make sure it stayed up!
Darla - Old looking gingham fabric, simple dress pattern, bob wig with bow made from dress material, lacey socks and black mary jane shoes.
Spankey - oversized flannel shirt, pants, shoes, and a hat to wear backwards on the head

Costume Instructions
There were only two costumes in the bunch that required sewing and that was Darla and Stimey. Stimey was just making the vest. It is about knee length and we left it with an unfinished look for character. Darla's dress was just a very simple girls dress pattern from Simplicity. We just made it with a higher waste and extra short hem. Her wig was purchased at Target for $7.99 in the costume section. Just styled it and pinned in the bow.
For Alfalfa, I just parted his hair down the middle and gooped it up really good with gel. The cowlick was done with Elmer's glue. I know that sounds wierd, but it keeps it up straight for hours and washes out with no problem at all. Add several freckles along the top of the cheeks and bridge of the nose and you are good to go!!
