Family Group Costumes

Basically we are just a bunch of fruit: Orange, apple, and grapes. This idea was a hit at all the halloween parties we attended.

Costume Instructions

Prep Time: about an hour for all three

Costume Materials
The Orange: A XXXL orange T-shirt (we found it on sale), pillows, belt, XXL underwear (optional), and some pants to wear underneath. You could also get some orange hairspray if you wanted to or an orange baseball cap.

The Apple: A stretchy, large shirt (I borrowed it from my mom), pillows, belt, red hat, green construction paper, brown pants and very large underwear (optional).

Bunch of grapes: a jacket (green or brown would work best), a package of green or purple balloons, safety pins, green construction paper and a green or brownish hat (easy way) or an elastic head band.

Costume Instructions
The Orange- Put on the orange shirt and stuff as many pillows as you can inside. Secure them with a belt at the bottom. We then placed some really large underwear on top of the costume to be funny. Underwear is optional of coarse. Purchasing pillows isn't necessary, you can borrow some if you don't have enough or use couch pillows, etc. My husband has red hair so he was perfect for the orange costume. If wanted, the person could wear an orange cap or spray their hair orange.

The Apple- Put on the large red shirt (I borrowed it from my mom), and stuff lots of pillows inside. Secure them with a belt at the bottom and place big underwear on top if you want. I wore brown pants underneath. For the stem, I rolled up some green construction paper and cut it into a few slits at the bottom. Then use a stapler to staple the paper onto the hat.

The bunch of grapes- Blow up balloons and safety pin them all over the jacket. Just like the apple, staple stem to a hat. Another option I used was to cut two large circles out of green construction paper. Then staple the slits of the stem to the center of one circle and staple the second circle to the first around the edges to cover staples in the center from stem. Next staple an elastic head band to the top and place something like felt over the staples so it wouldn't hurt their head. They wear the elastic around their face and under their chin. Brown or green pants would look best with this.

It was hard to choose which category to enter these costumes in because they are unique, easy to make, and a good idea for family costumes. The grapes was great for my little boy because I could just throw on the jacket when we got out of the car...super easy, convienant, and warm for trick-or-treating. Everyone went crazy over his costume and when we were all dressed up together we caused some serious laughs!
