Costume Instructions
1. Queen of Hearts I made this dress from a pattern. It wasnt as hard as I thought, and I got lucky and found the fabric for $1.00 per yard! I pulled my hair up in a bun, and used one of my daughters dress up crowns, added felt hearts, and called it good. I happened to have some chunky pilgrim shoes, so I wore those.

2. Mad Hatter My husband is such a good sport! I had him wear his own black pants and white shirt. I found the green vest and trench coat at a thrift store. I took the trench coat in a little at the waist so it would flair at the bottom some. I put the collar up on his shirt, and tied a bow with some wide turquoise ribbon. The hat is actually a silly Uncle Sam hat, and I recovered it with black fabric. (Its amazing what you can do with a glue-gun!) I spray painted his hair white (even though you cant see it. I wish his hair would have grown a little more quickly this time) and I used a brown eye-brow pencil to accentuate his wrinkles.

3. Alice I found the blue dress at a thrift store. I bought a plain white apron at a craft store (usually used for fabric painting) and added gathered lace to the edges, and a white ribbon across the front. I did cut the part that goes around the neck, and attached it to the ties in the back. I purchased a black headband from a dollar store, and hot-glued a black bow to the top. Some white tights, and black dress shoes, and she's done!

4. White Rabbit I purchased some faux white fur (the cheap stuff) and copied a pair of my daughters existing pants to make the bunny pants. I also copied one of her snow hats for the hat, and added ears. The pink part of the ears is actually cut from an old fuzzy receiving blanket I had. I already had the red shirt. I bought two plain white bibs from the craft store, connected them at the shoulders, and added a red felt heart to the front. (This is when I learned I cannot get distracted with children while using the glue-gun&and I have the blisters to prove it!) White socks for feet, and white mittens for her hands&and done!

5. Cheshire Cat I found a pink leotard at a thrift store, and purchased matching pink tights. Using purple acrylic paint mixed with textile medium, I painted the stripes on the leotard and tights. (Make sure you put some cardboard inside so the paint doesn't soak through.) I used the same old pink receiving blanket to cut out ears, and connected them to some barrettes. For the tail, I used one leg of another pair of painted tights, and stuffed it with an old receiving blanket (the one I used for the ears) and connected it on the bottom, and curled it up and connected it to the middle of her back. I flipped the front part of her hair forward (she doesnt have any bangs) and sprayed it orange. I pulled the rest of her hair back, and sprayed it purple. I couldnt find pink and purple face make-up, so I mixed colors. The top of her face is purple, and the bottom is pink. I went all the way down her neck onto her chest, and painted stripes there. I painted around her eyes yellow to look like the big Cheshire cat eyes and added whiskers with a black eye-brow pencil. She wore pink gloves for her hands.
