Costume Instructions
The only "sewing" needed is for the bottom of the ducks. First, measure and cut soft cotton fabric to loosely fit the person and then measure and cut the satin fabric so that it is at least 3 inches greater at the top and at the bottom (this allows it to "puff" out when you stuff it later). Stitch a clean hem for all sides of the satin and cotton fabrics. Then stitch closed the short end of the rectangle of each satin and cotton fabric. Note, the soft cotton fabric will be the "inside" of the duck bottom. Place the cotton fabric inside the center of the satin fabric, making sure that the "ugly" sides of the fabric are facing each other. This is where it gets tricky - you'll need to pleat the satin fabric so that it "fits" with the cotton fabric when you sew them together. Tip: I pin each end first, then pin half-way, then half-way again, until there's about an inch between all the pins. Then "fold" the remaining fabric and pin that down, making all your folds consistent. Then sew away. Repeat for the top section, but leave a 4 inch opening. Use this opening to fill with stuffing and spread as necessary. Then stitch it closed. Cut off a 4 inch section of the fur ribbon and fold it in half to form an upside down V. Stitch this to the back end of the butt. Lastly, stitch one side of velcro tape along the inside of the top (this should line up with the otherside of the the velcro tape stitched to the outside of white turtleneck).
FEET:
Cut web feet shape and velcro to top of shoes.
HEAD:
Paint the bill portion of the white baseball cap yellow. Paint in the eyes. Glue a 1 inch portion of the fur ribbon just above the eyes. Take the red (or choice of color) baseball hat and glue it on the back half of the white baseball cap.
Put all the pieces together and tada!
