Easy-to-Make Halloween Costumes
This is an easy no-sew costume that you can make using items you may already have. We used a leotard and petticoat as our base costume, then added black lace material, netting material in different colors, and accessories we found at thrift stores.
Costume Instructions
Prep Time: Approximately 1 hour.
Costume Materials
Glitter hair spray paint in blue, purple & black (optional)
Scissors to cut material
2 yards (each) of blue, navy blue, gray, and light
purple netting material
4 yards of purple netting material
Black lace material, 1 yard or more. Any black lace material should work. The more scraggly, the better.
10-30 Safety pins (small or medium size work best) You can
use more if you would like to add more netting material
Black tights
Purple leotard
Silver face make-up, black eyeliner, dark eye shadow, purple lipstick
Long black lace gloves, dark tiara, scepter, black choker necklace
Black shoes
Costume Instructions
Cut the blue, navy blue, gray and light purple netting
material into 2 ft. long pieces
Pinch each of the 2 ft. long pieces in the center and lift
it up so that it dangles in a ragged pattern (Do this with
each of the four colors - twice) You will have a total of
eight pieces
Safety pin each of the four colors to the top of each
arm sleeve - four on each arm
Safety pin the black lace material to the waist of the petticoat in a scraggly pattern. (We used a black window
valance that had spider web designs on it which we wrapped around the body and safety pinned onto the petticoat)
Randomly safety pin the remaining netting material onto the waist of the petticoat like you did with the arm sleeves
After you put on the tights, leotard and petticoat, take
the 4 ft. long piece of purple netting and wrap it around
your body. Start by holding the netting in front of you
horizontally and wrap each side around your waist across
the back and into the front. Tie it once in the front at
your waist and then bring each side up and over each
shoulder and tie it around your neck. Let the material
hang down for added fullness around your neck and shoulders.
The main costume is done. Use some of the spray paint for your hair, put it in a high pony tail and add the tiara.
Apply the silver face make-up, purple lipstick, black eyeliner, and the dark eye shadow.
Finish the costume with the necklace, black gloves, black shoes and scepter. (We used the left-over glitter spray paint on the whole costume)
