Costume Instructions

Costume Materials
I used a half a yard of pirate material for the pants. I used a left over strip of yellow material for the belt. I used a plain white cotton t-shirt for the top.

Costume Instructions
I used a McCall's pattern to make the pants and I altered them to fit my son's height. The cutting and sewing of the pants took less than a half an hour. Then I took a plain white t-shirt and pulled out all of the seams from the bottom band and from the arm bands with a seam ripper. I cut little triangles out of the sleeves and the bottom of the shirt after ironing it to give it a more rugged look. I cut a pirate out of the left over pant's material and used fabric glue to glue it to the shirt. Then a neighbor gave me a remnant strip of yellow material and I sewed down the edges to make a belt. I then purchased a $1 light up and noisy sword from the Dollar Tree to complete the outfit as my pirate will not wear a hat.
