Costume Instructions

Prep Time: 4-6 hours

Costume Materials
Pink 2 piece sweatsuit.
Silver (non-faying) fabric.
Red flannel or felt.
White craft foam. Velcro.
Fabric glue and a marker.
Rubber stamps and fabric ink.
Cardboard, tape, foil, red and tan ribbon, bobby pin.

Costume Instructions
I free-handed the game parts onto paper for a pattern and cut them out. (You could xerox the actual pieces and enlarge to trim). Then I traced the foam and cut the pieces. Then, I traced the pieces a bit larger onto the red flannel with a red marker and cut them out. Repeat the same technique using the red flannel onto the silver fabric. The pieces were positioned onto the fabric and using rubber stamps and pigment ink, the names of the parts were stamped onto the fabric and heat-set in with an iron. The fabric glue was added to the back of the white foam part, then pressed onto the red flannel. The red flannel was then glued to the silver fabric which was then glued to the pink sweatsuit. The removable pieces were the white foam parts on the front of the sweatshirt. Sticky velcro was applied to the foam. To ensure it sticking to the red flannel, fabric glue was applied to the sticky part of the velcro that was applied to the flannel. Tweezers were made from cardboard folded in half and wrapped in foil and then sealed with clear packaging tape. Red ribbon was tied to the fold in the tweezers. Red flannel was wrapped around the end with fabric glue to secure it. A safety pin holds it to the inside of the sweatshirt. To create the rubberband on the shin, tan ribbon was wrapped around red posts (white craft foam rolled into a cylinder and taped, and covered with red flannel) that popped through the piece (an x was cut for the post to pop through). It was soaked with fabric glue to stiffen it up. A bobby pin was adhered with glue and a fabric scrap to the brain freeze piece to place in the hair. Slits were cut on the sides of the nose in the clear mask to allow the nose to stay in place after turning on the flash button. A game hand-bag was purchased to carry the goodies in on Halloween!!
