Easy-to-Make Halloween Costumes

Lucky Leprechaun is our lucky charm...our son Danny boy. With his red hair and blue eyes we knew he had to be a wee lad this year! Plus, because he is only 18 months, we knew he wouldn't want anything too cumbersome to have to wear or else he would try to escape from it!! He was comfortable and could move around as usual. He didn't even mind the hat! He knew he looked cute with that smirk on his face. And, an extra bonus is that he can wear it again for St. Paddy's Day!! It is very inexpensive to pull together and can be completed with hand-me-downs or things around the house.

Costume Instructions
I purchased the tuxedo coat and green velvet "jon-jon" on eBay at very inexpensive prices. However, similar items can be hand-me-downs or found in local thrift shops. Cut two strips of gren velvet, slightly larger than the widest point of the tuxedo lapel. Spray glue the back of both strips of fabric. Adhere the strips to the left and right sides of the lapel and have the strips meet at the back of the lapel collar. Fold excess fabric under lapel and inside jacket. Cut two strips of green fabric to trim the cuff of each sleeve, repeat with spray glue and tuck under excess. Mark out the diameter of the brim of the hat on the back of a piece of the green fabric, cut out piece, spray glue backside and adhere to underside of hat brim. Trim edge of hat brim with green piping using a glue gun. Cut a strip of green fabric to go around hat base. Spray paint the plastic belt buckles gold. Slide a buckle on the strip of fabric and glue gun the strip in place on hat base. For the "springy" shamrock on top of hat: cut out a shamrock shape from the green fabric, cover pipe cleaner with green piping and glue gun each end, twist the covered pipe cleaner into a spring, glue gun the shamrock on, and glue gun the spring to the hat. Sew 4 gold buttons onto jacket front (2 on each side). Sew remaining two butons on jacket cuffs. Attach a gold buckle to each shoe with glue gun or string through shoelaces. Spray paint the witch's pot gold and glue gun the plastic gold coins onto the rim of the pot.
