Costume Instructions

Prep Time: 2 hours

Costume Materials
stroller
hot glue gun/glue sticks
assorted artificial leaves and vines
variety of stuffed jungle animals
needle/thread
velcro strips
sleeveless under shirt sized to fit very loosely on your child
1 to 2 yards of animal print upolstry material
marker
scissors

Costume Instructions
fold material in half.place shirt on material with one sleeve
tucked under taking care to place the side with the sleeve that is still upright beside the fold.(this will make it easier as you will only have one side of the costume to close)trace and cut out pattern.stitch the part that will rest on shoulder together to make arm hole. starting at the bottom stitch the other side up leaving 4 to 6 inches open at the top. attach velcro strips to this area as it will make it easy to put on and adjust to size.now just cut uneven jagged points all the way around the bottom.for the loin cloth or diaper cover place an open diaper on top of matial as a rough guideline, trace around diaper but make sure to leave 3 to 4 inches larger on all sides to assure that it will cover diaper completely when through.attach velcro in the same area as the diaper closures would be located. be sure to put the velro piece that has the loops on it to the front of loin cloth placing it on the furry side of material. now place the hook portion of velcro strip to the back part of loin cloth attaching it to the smooth side of material.this way it will not show and better yet it won't scratch the skin.for those of you that are fortunate enough to be done with diaper duty I'm sure that you still recall the basic shape so just make a paper pattern to trace on to material and cut out for bottoms.for the dense jungle wrap vines around sroller, attach leaves and strategically place stuffed animals - secure all with hot glue if needed.* not shown - I had enough left over material to make an "animal skin" blanky to snuggle up with during those chilly jungle nights. for this I just rounded the corners of a rectangular piece of material then made wavey edges all the way around.I also used the scraps of material to cover the tops of sandals to complete the look .just take the odds and ends and glue them to the tops of shoes overlapping and layering to cover.truly the most difficult part of this project was getting Tarzan the ape man A.K.A. Zachery to sit still long enough to get a picture.
