"Ice Cream Cone Costume"

Costume Instructions

Costume Materials
1 yard brown felt
1 brown permanent marker
1 pair of white pantyhose
2 pairs of white knee-hi stockings
1 pair of brown knee-hi stockings
fiberfill stuffing
3" styrofoam ball
red paint
1 green pipe cleaner
several bright colored drinking straws
1 yard whit ribbon
hot glue

Costume Instructions
Stuff brown stockings and tie the tops. Glue them together to form a tube that fits around your child's waist. Cut brown felt in half and taper the ends to resemble an ice cream cone. Draw diagonal lines in two directions with the brown marker to resemble the waffle pattern on an ice cream cone. Glue the top of the felt pieces on the front and back of the brown stocking tube, overlapping the ends on each side.

Stuff both legs of the panty hose and tie them at the tops. Cut them off and reserve the panty part to use later for the hat. Hot glue each leg into a tube and then glue the tubes to the top of your previously made ice cream cone.

Stuff both pairs of the white knee-hi stockings and tie the ends. Set one pair aside for the hat. Glue the other pair together, toes to tops to for another smaller tube. Glue this tube to the top of your ice cream cone costume, but leave the sides unglued to leave a place for your child to put his arms. Glue two pieces of ribbon to the inside of the costume, starting at the cone and running up the front and down the back to make two straps to hold the costume up on your childs shoulders.

For the hat, tie the legs of the panty part of your pantyhose and cut of the top to make a hat. Place the hat over a ball to hold it steady to glue the remaining stockings to it. Glue the final two stuffed stockings together at the toes and then glue this in a spiral shape onto the hat.

Cut the drinkiong straws into 1 inch pieces and glue them to your costume to resemble sprinkles.

Paint the styrofoam ball red and when it is dry, poke the green pipe cleaner into the ball for the cherry stem. Glue the pipe cleaner in place and then glue it to the top of your ice cream hat.
