Easy-to-Make Halloween Costumes
8-year-old Kathan, otherwise known as Electro Man, came up with this Super Hero idea totally out of his own head. He even drew a sketch diagram, complete with color markings, of what he wanted his costume to look like. You will notice -- no name blazing across the chest because. . . well, Kathan says then it would look like a COSTUME, not the 'real thing'.
Costume Instructions
Prep Time: One hour
Costume Materials
white pants
blue shorts
Four patches -- two with lightning bolts through a round patch and two red/white/blue patches
one black glove
black shoes
One long strip of black material for head-band-eye-patch
two inches of black elastic
four safety pins
Two black foam swords from Michael's craft store
Costume Instructions
Purchased white knit pants, and blue silky looking shorts. Cut the shorts in jagged points to match the sleeves.
Kathan himself went Ebay shopping to find iron-on patches - he wanted lightining bolts for the head band/eye cover and one for the shirt. He wanted two more, preferably some way in red/white/blue to represent an American Super-Hero. He found them within minutes on Ebay, and they arrived in the mailbox within a week.
Found the two light weight foam swords at Michael's craft store for $1 each. Sewed about two inches of black elastic as a sword holder on the back of the shirt, so swords could be pulled easily out or placed -- with some help -- back into their holders. The foam was not to heavy or bunglesome for Trick or Treat night.
He wanted ONLY one glove, with fingers cut off half way up. Easy to find at any dollar store.
The result: Super Hero Electro Boy came to life!
