Costume Materials
You Need: 1 1/2 to 2 inch thick foam sheet(The size that you cut it will depend on the size of your child, measure from the top of the knee to the shoulders for length. Then have them hold out there arms and measure from elbow to elbow for the with). Dark pink colored felt, & yellow felt 3inches longer than the foam mesurements.Toasty Brown & olive green fabric paint, one wooden 6inch long skinny dowl, one oval styrafoam ball about 5 to 6 inches, 1 foot of any color fir yarn or trim, one 1/2 or 1 inch red pom pom ball, 1 1/2 feet of wide elastic, Plastic pitcher from the dollar store, 1 dozen 2inch styrafaom balls,1 empty gaint pixie stick(optional),Glue gun & plenty of glue sticks, electric carving knife, & a paint brush.
Costume Instructions
Measure your child for the Foam bread pieces as stated before, cut those mesurements into 2 squares. One is for the back and one for the front. Use the electric carving knife to slice the foam into a bread shape(Rounded at the top, and a little dented in on the sides near the top, and rounded edges at the bottom). Once you have done one you can place the other one on top and cut around it. Now you are ready to cut a cirle out of the pink felt for the bologna. Cut the circle large enough so that the Bologna hangs off the bread about 2 inches. Then use the yellow felt for the cheese and cut that into a square and make sure that is 2 inches larger than the bread and hangs over. Now you can take your brown paint and paint the outside edges of both pieces of bread all the way around. Also take the olive green paint and paint the oval styrafoam ball. While the pieces are drying you can make your milk glass. Take your pitcher and hot glue the straw inside of the pitcher, then hot glue the styrafoam balls on the edge of the pitcher with some of them connecting and hanging over the sides, so that candy can still be placed inside. Now one your other pieces are done drying it is time to put it together. On the piece of bread that will go on the front of your child you are going to glue the yellow cheese onto the bread. Make sure you angle it so that each point the cheese is hanging over each side of the bread, then glue down. Then you are going to glue your bologna onto the top of the cheese so the ends are sticking out, then glue down. Cut your elastic in half. Now hold the front bread piece up to your child and mark where the elastic strip needs to be glued on so that it goes over the top of their shoulder. Both sides need to be done. Now you should be able to have your child hold the front of the bread with the elastic strips laying over their shoulders, so you can line up the back piece of bread and mark it so you know where to glue the elastic to in the back.(Make sure you gule the elastic to the side that is closest to your child). All that is left now is the olive on a toothpick! Glue on the fir trim/yarn around the top, by going around the stick several times. Now glue the red pom pom onto the skinner end of the painted oval. Now take and slide the olive onto the oppisite end of the stick on an angle, then decide how short you want the stick to be and break off the extra. Stick the olive stick into the froam about half way through the front piece of bread and glue down. You are finished!! I had my child wear green sweat shirt and pants, so it looked like she was the lettuce (This was not shown in the picture). Good Luck! It is very easy!
