Cardamom Cringles

Description

This crisp, delicate cookie stands apart from other gingerbread recipes by the addition of cardamom spice and a fresh citrus accent!

Ingredients

2 cups butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
4 cups flour
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp grated orange zest
1/4 tsp vanilla extract

How to Make

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
    Cream butter in mixer. Beat in brown sugar.
    Mix flour, salt, cardamom and orange zest in a medium bowl. Add mixture one cup at a time to the butter and sugar mixture. Add vanilla and mix well.

  • Turn dough onto well floured surface. Pat or roll into 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 18-20 minutes or until golden.

  • Cool thoroughly, frost and decorate! Makes about 2 dozen depending on the size of your cookie cutters.

    • Daytime, natural light is best. If your area is bright enough, try taking the photo without the flash.
    • Upload a horizontal photo. If you crop the image on your computer, make sure you keep a landscape 4:3 aspect ratio.
    • For best results, make your image 1200x900 (or "save for web").
    • With a digital camera, you can take as many photos as possible and choose the best one. Have fun!
