Description
I have always enjoyed gingerbread -- my whole kitchen is adorned with it at the holidays! I designed this creation based on a compliation of things I had seen in books throughout my childhood and wanted to do something special for my children. The trees are ice cream cones adorned with frosting and candies -- the roof is Neccos. The only item which is not edible is the little snowman which my daughter thought "just had to be there".
Ingredients
Gingerbread
Neccos
Candy Canes
royal frosting
gum drops
peppermint candies
red hots
heart shaped sucker(with stick cut off)
butter cookie wreaths - frosted
(Not visible -- caramel chimney and tootsie roll
woodpiles)

How to Make
I used boxed gingerbread and rolled it out on a cookie sheet.
When the gingerbread was baked, I used a pattern which was pre-cut to cut out the shape(while the gingerbread was still a bit warm). When cooled, it was assembled with royal frosting. Neccos were affixed with royal frosting in rows. As were other adornments. I do cake decorating for a hobby. The laterns are cut large gum drops and frosted with chocolate frosting. The porch rail is cut candy canes.
Homemade for the Holidays
Tips for Taking a Great Photo:
- Avoid clutter. Keep the background simple -- your gingerbread house or holiday cookie is the star!
- Daytime, natural light is best. If your area is bright enough, try taking the photo without the flash.
- Upload a horizontal photo. If you crop the image on your computer, make sure you keep a landscape 4:3 aspect ratio.
- For best results, make your image 1200x900 (or "save for web").
- With a digital camera, you can take as many photos as possible and choose the best one. Have fun!
