Greatest inspriration: I get great inspiration from family photos
— new, old, formal, informal — we have them everywhere in our
home. They remind me how important our time together is — and help me
look forward to what we'll do in the future.
The song that best describes my family life: Right now it's "Superman" by Five for Fighting. Since we're very busy adjusting to the arrival of our new baby, Miles — it feels like I'm just hanging by my fingernails on most days — these lyrics, which are about Superman feeling sorry for himself, help me laugh at life. I especially like the lines — "I'm out to find the better part of me..." and "I'm not just a pretty face beside a train..."
Favorite time of day with my kids: Cuddling up and reading stories in the late afternoon or evening.
Most Proud "Mom" Moment: Our kids make me proud (*nearly) every day —- most recently Henry's first grade teacher called him a "model student" on his report card and at his parent conference. I'm still glowing.
Least Proud "Mom" Moment: I've had too many of these and I try not to obsess over them (forgetting is easy when you're a sleep-deprived parent), and just move forward.
Favorite thing to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon: Reading stories in our hammock and eating hamburgers on our patio.
Funniest thing my kids have said or done lately: Henry, who is a terrible eater, stomping out of the kitchen muttering, "Stupid...PROTEIN!"
Favorite season or holiday: Fall and Halloween. I love the change of seasons especially summer into fall. Our kids love Halloween and start talking about it in June.
Favorite midnight snack (or afternoon snack with kids): Our daughter Julia's homemade chocolate chip cookies.
My Philosophy of Parenting: Make the most of each day and your time together as it's so fleeting.
Nagging insecurity: That I forgot to do something major.
Best decision I ever made: To have three children.
If money were no object... We'd have another baby.
Best advice I've ever given: Teach your baby to sleep — of course I can't seem to follow my own advice!
One true thing my mom taught me: Don't worry, be happy.
Best thing about my husband: Dave grounds me when I become an overly-neurotic worrying mother and he reassures me that everything will be ok.
Least favorite household chore: Cleaning out the fridge — in our house it can be a real horror show.
The most important thing I can teach my children: Unconditional love and forgiveness
The biggest lesson I've learned from my kids: Unconditional love and forgiveness
