From the Disney Family Editors: Top these with canned or homemade buttercream frosting. Add a drop or two of food coloring to the frosting to make bright treats for any holiday from Fourth of July to Halloween.

Here's a tried-and-true recipe for white cupcakes.

Ingredients

    1/2 cup butter, softened
    3/4 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    2/3 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line your cupcake tin with paper or foil liners.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the butter mixture one third at a time, alternating with the milk.
  4. Pour into the prepared cupcake pan and bake for 18 to 24 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Makes 12 cupcakes.
