- Preheat the oven to 400 F. Melt the butter in a large saucepan then stir in the apples and superfine sugar. Simmer for two to three minutes, then add the water. Bring to the boil and cook for a few minutes until the apples are just soft. Stir in the berries, then remove from the heat.
- To make the crumble, whiz the flour and butter in a food processor until it looks like crumbs, then stir in the demerera sugar.

Divide the fruit between four ramekins and top with the crumble mixture, then sprinkle the marzipan on top. Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden on top and bubbling around the edges.
Ingredient Note: Bramley Apples are tart green apples grown predominantly in the U.K. In the U.S., use Granny Smith apples for the same result. Demerera sugar is raw cane sugar and can be found in many supermakets in the sugar aisle. If you don't have it available at your market, light brown sugar is an equally good substitute.
