Little Einsteins' Musical Rocket Cake

My son wanted a Little Einteins party for his 2nd birthday -- a musical themed Rocket cake was the resulting centerpiece!

You'll need:

  • 1/2 sheet cake
  • Your favorite cake mix
  • Football-shaped cake pan
  • Your favorite icing in white, red, blue, and yellow
  • Candy coating wafers in yellow
  • Toothpick
  • Red food coloring
  • Red jelly bean
  • 2 log-shaped snack cakes for engines
  • Piping bag, with tips 48 and 18
  • Music note shaped chocolates
  • Red chocolate piped into 2 "fin" shapes for engines
  • Color picture of Rocket for reference.
Instructions:

1. Bake sheet cake and football-shaped cake. (If desired, you could use a store-bought sheet cake.) Let cool.

2. Decorate sheet cake with white icing. Add music notes. Layer the football shaped cake on a cake board, then place on top, using dowels to support it. Cut snack cakes on diagonal, to nestle against Rocket. Add snack cakes into position on cake.

3. Outline windows on Rocket and fill in with blue icing, using tip #48. Then, pipe red onto rocket and snack cakes using tip #18.

4. Add two yellow candy wafers as headlights, red chocolate fins on engines, and a red jelly bean on red toothpick (paint it with food coloring) for antenna.

5. Write message on cake, and pipe edges with white icing. Voila! Rocket cake!
