Yai's Mashed Potatoes
This recipe's a winner! Daisy Crane of Pennsylvania won our Mashed Potato Challenge with a wonderful addition to a holiday meal. Yai's Mashed Potatoes, named for Daisy's grandmother, was called "so festive for a special Thanksgiving meal" by one of our testers.

Directions
- Heat oven to 350. Mash potatoes with mixer. Add cream cheese, sour cream, salt, and garlic. Beat until smooth and light.
- Spoon into a 2- to 3-quart greased casserole dish. Dot with butter and sprinkle with paprika. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.

They were pretty to look at after they cooked and had a light brown-baked tinge to them. They were delicious to eat and everyone at the table cleaned their plate. What more can you ask for?

I made it exactly like the recipe but substituted Neufchatel (a lower fat variety) of cream cheese and a reduced fat sour cream as well. These potatoes were really good and everyone in the family liked them but they seem like a heart attack waiting to happen. Cream cheese, sour cream, butter... so good yet so bad!

This recipe was delicious but really should be saved for special occasions. It's fun to eat high fat and calorie food sometimes - so long as it is infrequently and so long as it tastes great!
