Seasonal Spring Produce and Recipe Guide

spring strawberries

In-season fruits and vegetables taste better, and are better for the environment since the produce doesn't have to be shipped all the way from the southern hemisphere. You also have more of a chance of finding organic goods during their season, which are healthier for your family.

This is great information. I also found a website called localharvest.com where you can put in your zip code and find out where to buy fresh, in season and locally grown produce.

Another tip - use fresh ingredients in your cocktails, just like food they taste better too!

Strawberries are my, and my family's, absolute favorite! You are right, PeaPod, they're wonderful in salads, but of course, so wonderful in desserts. When the weather starts warming up, my husband barbecues fresh asparagus on the grill, and I make strawberry shortcake. We even take the children strawberry picking once a year, and it is the best fruit you've ever tried!

All of these look delicious. I have actually made spinach salad with strawberries many times and you may be surprised at how well these flavors go together. It's amazing that it's also incredibly good for you. And with pre-washed and packed spinach so readily available it's simple to make for a quick lunch or a dinner side.
