Your little one will scurry to wear this cute mouse costume around the block!

Prep Time: About 1 hour
What you need:
sweat suit in either gray, white, brown, or black (girls and boys) or tights & leotard (girls)
sweatshirt (in chosen color)
socks
shoes (in chosen color if possible)
mittens
headband
knee-high stocking
cotton balls (or Kleenex)
tape
scissors
X-acto knife or hole punch
cutting board
string
pipe cleaners
glue
marker of chosen color
card stock
printable mask and ears
Seasons: Halloween
Materials: card stock
Instructions:
1.Click each of the following links for your printable mouse mask and ears. To view the .pdf file, you'll need Acrobat Reader, which is available for free from the Adobe site. Print each page.
2.Paste each printout onto card stock, making sure the glue is on the back of the costume images. Have your child choose a color scheme for the costume (gray, for example) and then color in the mask and ears accordingly.
3.Once the mask and ears are colored, a parent or other grown-up can cut them out. Use the X-acto knife (and cutting board) or hole punch to cut out the eye holes.
4.Punch one hole on either side of the mask (in the designated area). Reinforce the holes with tape so that the mask doesn't rip while your child is wearing it. Thread a length of string through each hole and secure it. Make sure the mask fits snugly but not too tightly around your child's head.
5.Place the ears on the headband. To do this, wrap the tabs on the bottom of each ear around the headband, from front to back, and tape or glue them to their own backs.
6.On the mask, tape pipe cleaners on each side in the whisker area.
7.Stuff a knee-high stocking with cotton balls or Kleenex for the tail. Either stitch or pin the tail to a sweatshirt.
8.Have your child wear clothing matching the color scheme chosen for the costume. A girl could wear tights and a body suit with a sweatshirt over the top, and a boy, a sweatshirt and pants. Make sure the tail is in the right position. If possible, add matching mittens for the paws. Put on the headband and mask, and you're set to go!
