Frightening Costume
I used a pattern for a simple straight sleeveless dress then drew a semicircle pattern for the spiked wings. The collar is a simple collar pattern piece drawn out longer on the sides. Partial sleeve is the bottom half of a regular sleeve pattern. Shoe covers are just triangular shapes with elastic sewn to back to secure to foot.

Costume Materials
- Any stiff solid color or Halloween design type fabric for the dress, collar, sleeves, and shoe covers.
- Satin for the wings.
- Firmest iron on interfacing you can find for the collar and shoe covers.
- Wire hanger for collar and shoe cover support.
- About 18 inches of elastic for shoe covers.
- Face paint and similar color spray color for her hair.
- Lengthen dress pattern to extend to mid calf. Draw out about a 1/3 circle on plain paper with straight edges the same length as the side of the dress. Draw a zig-zag pattern on the curved edge. Cut out 4 pieces and sew together, turning right side out to make 2 wings.
- Follow pattern directions for the dress sewing one edge of wings into dress side seam.
- Cut sleeve pattern in half at about the elbow and make the wrist edge pointed. Cut out 4 pieces of the partial sleeve. Sew together including far end of remaining straight edge of wing.
- To make collar lengthen side edges to size of collar desired. Cut out 2 pieces of fabric and one of fusible interfacing. Iron interfacing to one piece of collar. Sew collar together, turn right side out, and sew again about 1/2 inch from outside edges. Staighten a wire hanger, cut to necessary lengths and insert inside collar along outside edges. Side edges of hanger will be much longer than necessary so you can bend them over her shoulders to act as support to make collar stand up. Bend very tip up and tape or sew a fabric pad over end to make it more comfortable.
- Cut 4 triangular pieces of fabric and 2 pieces of fusible interfacing for shoe covers. Iron on interfacing. Sew and turn right side out, sew again about 1/2 inch from outside edges. Staighten a wire hanger, cut to necessary lengths and insert inside shoe covers along outside edges. Bend tips of covers up curling back. Sew a piece of elastic to back of she cover to secure to foot.
