Sandy Claws Jack Costume
Prep Time: 6 Days
Costume Materials
- 3 yards of red felt
- 2 yards white long faux fur
- 1 yard black pleather
- 6ft of wire
- a white turtle neck
- a pair of skeleton gloves
- a very large gold belt buckle (Santa Style)
- black boots
- a latex bald cap
- black chiffon
- black and white acrylic paint
- plastic fake teeth
- a bottle of flesh latex and foam latex
- black cream make-up
- and a large plastic candy cane or present to put you in the Christmas mood.
- For the costume, I took a pair of pants to use as a pattern, raise the waist up to my chest, turning them into more of a jumpsuit.
- I did the same thing with a long sleeve, band collar shirt for the coat but I added tails that went down to the floor.
- After the pieces of the coat and pants are sewn together I added the fur trim to the collar, cuffs, and the end of end tails.
- Wire was then added to the edging of the tails and then curled to give them a more whimsical look.
- The black pleather is added to the boots as a spat to go up to just below my knees, with the tops of them trimmed with a band of fur.
- Also cut the belt out of the pleather (about 8ins wide by however long you need it) and sew on the buckle.
- Use the remaining red felt and cut out a your Santa hat using the fur again to trim it.
- With the remaining fur, a 4ft triangle was cut out for the beard (I ended up doubling it and stuffing it with fiber fill to make it look fuller)
- I then cut a curve into the smaller side for my face and attached it to the hat.
- The mask was sculpted and cast in foam latex, then a bald cap was added to the back with flesh latex to cover my whole head.
- The black chiffon was added to screen out the eyes and the teeth are then added into the mouth.
- The whole thing then was painted and detailed with acrylic paint mixed with latex.
- When the mask is on, the turtleneck is pulled up into it and I put black make-up around my eyes and mouth to black them out.
- The gloves were also panted to match the color of the mask.
