Madison's favorite animal of all time is the White Tiger - making it an easy choice for her halloween costume. We started with a white jogging suit with painted black stripes (layered with a white turtleneck due to the cold weather) - we made the tail using cotton fabric over a flexible PVC pipe and tied around her waist with shoestrings. We found a headband that had ears and a white wig attached. We sewed yarn and parts of a new cotton mop head around the neck of the sweatshirt to represent the mane. We sprayed her hair with white hairspray and painted her face white with black stripes. We sewed a "pillowcase" type bag out of the cotton fabric and painted black stripes on for her candy loot bag. Viola! White Tiger! ROAR!

Prep Time: 2 hours (painting & sewing)

Costume Materials
  • White jogging suit - top and bottom
  • White turtleneck
  • Black fabric paint
  • New mop head
  • White yarn with black threads
  • White ears/wig headband
  • Cotton fabric (used to cover tail and for candy bag)
  • Pair of white shoestrings (extra long)
  • 1/2" diameter flexible pvc pipe - 30"
  • White and black face paint
  • White hairspray
Costume Instructions
  1. We started with Madison's idea - White Tiger. First, we found the headband that had white ears and a white wig attached.
  2. Next, we purchased the white jogging suit, top and bottoms.
  3. We took the new cotton mop head apart and sewed sections of it around the neck of the sweatshirt.
  4. We also added pieces of yarn that we found that had black thread intertwined. This created the mane.
  5. After the mane was attached, I painted black stripes on the jogging suit (both tops and bottoms) using black fabric paint.
  6. We used cotton fabric to fashion a "tube" for the tail. By sewing two lengths of the fabric together - and inserting the PVC pipe, a tail was created.
  7. We used the above mentioned yarn to wind around the tail to create stripes. We sewed a pair of shoestrings to the top of the tail so as to tie it around Madison's waist.
  8. We also sewed a pillowcase out of the cotton fabric and painted black stripes on it as well for her candy loot bag.
  9. On the day of Halloween - we painted her whole face white and added black tiger stripes.
  10. Spray painted her hair white and added the ears/wig headband! Viola! White Tiger! Roar!
