Bobbysoxer Costume

My mother sent us a dress with a poodle-type skirt. It inspired me to make a little bobbysoxer costume. I painted some canvass sneakers to look like saddle shoes and added matching ribbons for shoelaces and hairties. Then, I popped the lenses out of children's sunglasses and painted the frames to match the costume. My 2 1/2 year old loves her costume!
Prep Time: 2 hours
Costume Materials
- Poodle Skirt
- Top
- Canvas Sneakers
- Fabric Paint
- Ribbon (about 3 yards)
- Hairclips (1-2)
- Craft Glue
- Children's Sunglasses (cat's eye shape if possible)
- Craft Paint
- Purchase (or sew) poodle skirt and top
- Use fabric paint to paint canvas sneakers to look like saddle shoes
- Replace shoe laces with ribbon to match outfit
- Form bows with ribbon that is left and attach glue them to hairclips (put into hair above ponytail(s) once costume is on)
- Remove lenses from sunglasses and paint to match costume
