We found this costume in "Family Fun" magazine. It was so easy and fun to make!

Prep Time: 1hr.

Costume Materials
  • 2 pairs of thick white cotton tights
  • 1 4in styrofoam ball
  • 1 small can of red spray paint
  • 2 dozen solid colored straws
  • 1 green pipe cleaner
  • 1 large bag of pillow stuffing
  • 1yrd kakhi fabric
  • 1 white long sleeve shirt
  • 1 brown permanent marker
  • hot glue gun
Costume Instructions
  1. fill tights with cotton batting, to fit your childs waist. sew ends of tights shut and glue ends together to form a circle. glue both of these waist size rings together.
  2. cut kahki material in a triangle( long enough that it touches your child's shoes) make sure the top corners of fabric are long enough to wrap around the cotton rings and touch in back. draw stripes diaginally in both directions on the kahki fabric.
  3. Hot glue the fabric to the underneath side of the cotton ring. Hot glue the two rings together.
  4. Make the hat the same way as the bottom rings. make sure bottom ring fits around your child's head. make second ring slightly smaller.
  5. Spray paint foam ball w/red paint. glue red ball to top of smaller hat ring. glue both hat rings together.
  6. cut straws into thirds and glue on outside of ice cream body and hat.
  7. The hat was too heavy for my daughter so I made an elastic drawstring attachment to the bottom of hat. I used the tops of the remaining tights.
