Water Fairy Costume

This is a homemade tulle skirt coupled with some accessories to make a quick and cute homemade fairy, cheerleader or ballet costume

Costume Materials
  • 5-8 yards of tulle your choice of color or colors - depending on size of waist and fullness desired!!
  • elastic - 1/2in no roll to fit child's waist - plus a little to tie a knot
  • 1 top to match tulle
  • 1 bottom to match tulle (or 1 bathing suit or leotard/bathing suit)
  • shoes or flip flops to match
  • bracelet or decor if wanted
  • 1 set of fairy wings


Costume Instructions
  1. Don't unfold the tulle when you get it home keep it folded in half (it will be easier and quicker to cut.
  2. Gather the tulle longways and cut it 2 inch strips until all the tulle has been cut, you will have many long strips of tulle the don't have to be perfect!
  3. Now where the tulle as folded in half, cut making two shorter strips of tulle.
  4. Measure and cut the elastic to fit waist, then tie in a knot.
  5. Take the tulle, one by one, fold it and loop it around the elastic, and thru itself. No sewing required!!!
  6. Keep going until you have the elastic covered and the skirt is full.
  7. Add shirt, shorts, or leotard/bathing suit, wings, accessories and you have yourself an inexpensive, quick CUTE fairy. Note: Use any color or mix and match the colors to match the leotard or clothes from your childs closet!!
