No sewing is required for this diner diva's uniform -- all the trimmings are glued in place. And check out our fun idea for an eggs-cellent companion for the waitress.

Prep Time: Afternoon or Evening
What you need:
 Scissors
1/2 yard of white felt from a 72-inch bolt
Hot glue
4 yards of narrow lace trim
Plain T-shirt and matching skirt
3 white buttons
9- by 12-inch sheet of colored felt (for hat)
Plain white sneakers
Black permanent marker
Bobby pins
Brown shoelace
Cotton balls
Clear plastic cup
1-inch red pom-pom
White cocktail napkins
Black plastic dinner plate
Duct tape
Seasons: Halloween
Materials: clothing, felt
Instructions:
1.Step 1 - Fab '50s Waitress UNIFORM: Cut the apron pieces, collar, and cuffs from the white felt (diagram 1). Using the hot glue, put the apron pieces together and attach lace trim to all the pieces. Glue a cuff on the outside of each T-shirt sleeve, then fold it up. Glue on the collar and the buttons.
2.Step 2 - Fab '50s WaitressFold the colored felt and glue on lace trim to make the hat (diagram 2).
3.Turn the sneakers into saddle shoes by coloring them with the marker. Secure the hat to your child's head with the bobby pins. Have her put on the skirt.
4. TRAY: To make the ice-cream soda, wrap the shoelace around a clump of cotton balls, then slip it into the cup. Glue on the pom-pom and a short snip of shoelace as a cherry stem. Glue the cup and napkins to the plate. Make a hand strap by sticking together 2 lengths of duct tape. Tape the strap to the tray's underside.
