A classic chain-folding technique lets you reuse and recycle with real style -- by turning a colorful bag into bangles.
| Prep Time: About 1 to 2 hours | |
| What you need: | |
| Large chip bag
Ruler Pen Scissors | |
| Seasons: Year round | |
| Materials: snack bag | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | Rinse and dry a large chip bag, then measure and cut it
into 1 1/2- by 4-inch strips (we used 22 for each bracelet). To
make each link, crease a strip in half vertically and
horizontally (A). Fold the long sides in to meet at the vertical
crease, then fold the strip in half along the vertical crease
(B). Fold the ends of the strip in to meet at the horizontal
crease, then fold the strip in half at the horizontal crease (C).
As you make the links, store them in an envelope to keep them
from unfolding. |
| 2. | Set one link aside. Connect the rest by slipping the ends
of one through the slots formed by the folds of the next. |
| 3. | To turn your chain into a bracelet, unfold the slots of the
spare link and thread it through the slots of the chain's end
links to connect them.
|
| 4. | Secure the connector's loose ends by folding each of them
back over one slot and into the other. |
