| 1. |  Fill a shoe box lid with sand. During each
outing, have your child collect a small, distinctive rock, then use a fine-point permanent marker to label it with the date and place he found it. Arrange the rocks in the lid and use a trimmed plastic fork to rake pleasing patterns in the sand. |
