Celebrate a new arrival by making her this ultrasweet baby tee, easily printed with a piece of fruit dipped in fabric paint. After you've made your mark, give it a personal touch by writing Baby's name across the front with rubber stamps.
| Prep Time: About 2 to 3 hours | |
| What you need: | |
| Piece of cardboard
Cotton T-shirt or onesie, washed and dried Fruit (apples, pears, and star fruit work especially well) Paper towel Fabric paint 2 paper plates Paintbrush Small paintbrush or cotton swab Rubber alphabet stamps | |
| Seasons: Year round | |
| Materials: paints, T-shirts | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | Insert the cardboard into the shirt to prevent the paint from bleeding through. |
| 2. | Cut the fruit in half, then blot the surface with a paper towel. |
| 3. | Squeeze some fabric paint onto a paper plate. Brush the paint onto the cut surface of the fruit, then firmly press it onto the front of the shirt. Use your fingertip to press down the stem. |
| 4. | Use a small brush or a cotton swab to add details, such as seeds, or to touch up any blotchy spots. |
| 5. | Now brush a very thin layer of paint onto the second paper plate (add a drop of water if the paint dries too quickly). Using the rubber stamps, print the baby's name on the shirt. |
| 6. | Let the shirt dry, then heat-set the fabric paint according to the manufacturer's directions. |
