| 11 1/2- by 44-inch piece of fabric
Yardstick Chalk Washable fabric glue (we used Aleene's OK to Wash-It) An iron Iron-on patches or rickrack (optional) | |
| Seasons: Year round | |
| Materials: fabric | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | First, place the fabric face down and use the yardstick and
chalk to measure and mark a 3/4-inch hem at one narrow end. Iron
the hem flat (parents only), then glue it in place against the
back of the fabric. Turn over the material and repeat at the
other end, this time pressing and gluing a 3/4-inch hem against
the front of the material (A). Allow the glue to dry. |
| 2. | With the material right side up, mark a horizontal line
across it, 6 inches from the hem you just made. Then mark a
vertical line 4 1/4 inches in from one side of the material, as
shown (B). Apply three vertical lines of fabric glue as shown,
then fold up the bottom of the material along the 6-inch line
(C). Allow the glue to dry. |
| 3. | Turn the material face down. Press flat a 3/4-inch hem
along each long side of the holder (D). Secure the hems in place
with the fabric glue and allow to dry. If your child likes, he
can decorate his holder with fabric patches or lengths of
rickrack, as we did. |
